      Plug your iPod into your USB port, using the cable or connector that came with it. Some models dock directly into a port. You will see a message on your screen that says "An iPod has been detected, but the iPod software is not installed." Install the iPod software from the CD that came with your iPod.

      Click on OK, and download your software. Download iTunesSetup.exe. After this is done downloading, click "Run." You can move media from your computer to your iPod in a matter of seconds.

      After the download, restart your computer, click the iTunes icon that has been placed on your desktop and register your iPod. Select, "automatically sync songs to my iPod" to allow iTunes to auto-sync your iPod to match your music library and playlist each time you connect to your computer. Go to the iTunes Store and purchase songs. Drag the songs you've purchased from the music library into playlists you create. Sync your iPod once you've organized your music to move the songs to the iPod.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you are paying for the songs you download from the Internet. If you already have the Music CD, then you can easily transfer the music to your iPod at no additional cost.
