Fall is the perfect time to cuddle up for warmth, enjoy candy corn and drink all of the apple cider that you want. Throwing a fall party can be fun, but you must have plenty of food, decorations and set the right kind of atmosphere that creates comfort. With the right accessories and settings, you can easily host a fall harvest party created both for children and adults.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pumpkins, squash and Indian corn for decoration
  • Scented candles
  • Bales of hay
  • Favorite fall dishes
  • Ingredients for s'mores
  • Apple Cider
  • Coffee
  • Hot chocolate
  • Seating
  • Blankets
  1. Step 1

Buy fall-themed decorations at a party supply store, retail shop or a nearby pumpkin patch. Set out decorations such as pumpkins, Indian corn, squash, fall bouquets of orange mums, and color streamers such as oranges, browns, tans, greens, and golds. Host your party outdoors if the weather is comfortable. Set up tables and plenty of seating for all of your guests. If the weather is cool, host it inside in your home with plenty of cinnamon and fall scents filling the air.

  2. Step 2

Have favorite fall food and snacks available for all of your guests. Set out pumpkin pie, bars or bread for dessert. Prepare snack trays with crackers, cheeses and plenty of candy corn for everybody's sweet-tooth. For chillier weather, have everybody gather around a fire and cook weenies and marshmallow s'mores. Serve corn on the cob, sweet potatoes or yams or a big pot of vegetable soup. Be sure there is plenty of warm drinks such as hot apple cider, coffee and hot chocolate.

  3. Step 3

Make guests feel at home and cozy with bales of hay to sit on, extra blankets and a crackling fire to spark conversation. Have background music playing with relaxing classical music. Set out candles that have pumpkin, cinnamon or apple scents.

  4. Step 4

Create games for the children at the party. Buy small pumpkins for children to decorate with markers or paints. Have the other adults judge for most creative, funny and original. Use party favors or candy for prizes. Find someone to give hayrides for everybody to enjoy. Sing holiday songs or visit with everybody while on the ride.

  5. Step 5

Share ghost stories, tales and jokes around the campfire as nighttime falls. Be sure to pass plenty of apple cider or hot chocolate or around. This is a great time for s'mores making as well. Turn the party into a slumber party for young ones complete with tents, pillows and heavy blankets, Have flash lights, too, for those who are afraid of the dark.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ask guests to bring their favorite fall dishes and desserts to help cut the cost of food for the party. Let guests bring their own blankets for warmth if they would like to feel more at home or if they would rather use their own.
