How to Clear Temp Files, Cookies, and History in Internet Explorer 7
Temporary internet files and cookies are little snippit files that track your browsing history and help to have personalized content delivered to you. In addition, Internet Explorer 7 also tracks web pages you have visited (called History), as well as any form data and passwords you may have saved. While they can be useful, you may find that this information can add up quickly, taking up a lot of space. This article explains how to clear your cache in Internet Explorer 7.

Open Internet Explorer 7.

At the top of the screen, look for the "Tools" menu. Click on "Tools" and then select "Delete Browsing History".

In the "Delete Browsing History" box, you have an option of only clearing certain elements or clearing everything. If you only wanted to delete a certain option, then you would click on the corresponding button. To delete everything, click on the "Delete All..." button at the bottom.
Let's say, for example, that you wanted to clear all everything, but you wanted to keep all of your saved passwords. In this case, you would individually click on "Delete Files", "Delete Cookies", and so on; however, do not click on "Delete Passwords".

If you opt to delete everything, you may receive a pop up asking if you are sure you want to delete all Internet Explorer browsing history. Click on "Yes".

You should then receive a pop up asking you to wait while the browsing history in Internet Explorer 7 is cleared. Please note that, depending on the amount of files are stored, this may take a few minutes, so just let it run its course. Do not cancel. Once all history has been cleared, the pop up will disappear.

You can also set Internet Explorer to automatically delete all temporary internet files each time you close your browser. To do this, open Internet Explorer 7, click on the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options".

Select the "Advanced" tab.

Scroll down under "Security" and place a check next to "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed". Click on "Apply", then click on "OK".

Close Internet Explorer 7. Now each time you are done browsing the internet and close your browser, the temporary internet files will automatically be deleted.
