Automobile Insurance Quotes

There are so many intricacies of automobile insurance quotes that it can be difficult to compare them. It can be especially difficult when you are getting to quotes over the internet because there are so many companies and you can get so many quotes in a very short amount of time. The following steps will help you to understand the various elements of the automobile insurance quotes in order to contrast them and choose the best option for you.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Compare the liability coverage. The most important aspect of automobile insurance quotes is the liability coverage. The liability coverage is required by law in all states in order to obtain a drivers license. The liability coverage is the insurance on the individuals involved in the accident. There will be two figures, one for you, the driver, and one for the other parties involved in the accident. Basic coverage is going to be the minimum required by the state in order to obtain the policy. Most companies offer different amounts so that you can be insured for a higher amount. When comparing quotes make sure that the liability coverage is the same amount so that you are not comparing apples and oranges.

  2. Step 2

Compare the property damage. This is not required as part of automobile quotes. It is the coverage for the vehicles that may be involved in the accident. This figure represents the maximum amount of money that the insurance company has agreed to pay in the case of an accident. Again the default figure may vary so make sure it is the same when you are comparing policies. Also verify if the policy covers just mechanical or cosmetic damage or both.

  3. Step 3

Add on uninsured motorist coverage. This is usually a requirement in order to have property damage coverage on automobile quotes, but it can be removed for basic liability quotes, however it is not recommended. This coverage is the amount of money the insurance company is willing to pay out for an accident if the accident is not your fault, but the other party is driving illegally, uninsured.

  4. Step 4

Add-on coverage should be considered as well when comparing automobile quotes. Add-ons are things like rental car or travel reimbursement plans or roadside service plans. Be sure to verify the amounts of these when obtaining the quote for purpose of comparison with other quotes.
