A cork wreath makes a great birthday or holiday present for the wine lover. The wreath can be put into a wine- or Tuscan-themed room or even put by a door on the exterior of a home to create an inviting entrance. Cork wreaths are easy to make and cost effective, especially for the wine lover who has collected wine corks over the years and wants to use those corks for a craft.
Sort your corks into two piles. One pile will consist of plain corks that you don't find appealing or have a lot of. These corks will be used on the first layer of corks. The second pile should consist of corks that may have any special meaning to you or have decorative pictures or words. These corks will be used for the second layer of corks.
2
Tie a piece of twine around the top of the straw wreath. Thread the twine through the center of the wreath and tie the knot around a section. When tied in a knot, there should be at least 1 inch of space between the twine and straw wreath. The twine will be used as a hanger.
3
Cover one side of each cork with a layer of hot glue. Apply the corks to the entire front surface and sides of the straw wreath. The ends of each cork should be touching, in a circular pattern around the whole wreath.
4
Glue the second layer of corks in a disorganized fashion. Do not follow the same circular pattern as the first layer. Stagger the corks at different angles until the wreath is covered with a second layer of corks.
5
Hang the cork wreath using a nail or other hanging device on the wall and the twine adhered to the wreath.
Tips & Warnings
You can add other decorative items to your cork wreath, such as artificial grapes or a bow.
