Step 1
Decide if you would rather have a color theme or an idea theme. Color themes are relatively easy, while idea themes take a little more thought and creativity.
-
Step 2
If you decide to have a color theme Christmas tree, choose a color that is enjoyed by the whole family. You could even let your family members vote on the color theme of the tree. Once you decide on a color, let each member of the family choose 3 ornaments that are a shade of your theme color.
-
Step 3
Purchase lights that are the color of your Christmas tree theme. You can even use garland that is the same color. If you are having trouble finding the right colored lights, you can always purchase them online.
-
Step 4
If you choose an idea theme, look around the home at the things your family enjoys doing to get ideas. If your home is filled with sports items, you might want to have a football theme on your Christmas tree. If your family visits the ocean each year, you could have a beach themed Christmas tree, complete with shells and starfish. Other idea themes include things like a casino/gambling theme, cartoon characters, toys, or even candy.
-
Step 5
Once you choose your idea theme, you can shop for Christmas decorations that pertain to your theme. You might even be able to find decorations around the house that are small enough to use on your tree. Get creative and have fun and you'll have a theme Christmas tree that the whole family will enjoy.

on 12/16/2008 Christmas tree themes are so beautiful. All blue, all red, silver tree, green. There's so many variety of ideas and looks that can be made. It's a good suggestion your article to think about personalizing Christmas trees.
