The Chaplet of the Holy Wounds is a Catholic devotional prayer based on the visions of Sister Marie Martha Chambon of Chamberry, France. Sister Marie Martha reportedly received revelations from Jesus Christ with instructions on how to pray and meditate on His wounds. As atonement for the sins of the world, Jesus had asked Sister Marie Martha to join her sufferings with his own as an Act of Reparation. The Chaplet of Holy Wounds can be recited with or without a rosary, though the chaplet itself is a rosary based prayer. This is a powerful prayer that allows you to offer your sufferings to Jesus while meditating on the sufferings he endured.

Instructions

    • 1

Start at the crucifix of the rosary. Say, "O Jesus, Divine Redeemer, be merciful to us and to the whole world. Amen."

    • 2

On the first bead above the crucifix, say, "Strong God, Holy God, Immortal God, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Amen."

    • 3

On the second bead, say, "Grace and Mercy, O my Jesus, during present dangers, cover us with Your Precious Blood. Amen."

    • 4

On the third bead, say, "Eternal Father, grant us mercy through the Blood of Jesus Christ, Your only Son, grant us mercy we beseech You. Amen, Amen, Amen."

    • 5

On the first large bead, say, "Eternal Father, I offer You the Wounds of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, to heal the wounds of our souls."

    • 6

On the following ten small beads, say, "My Jesus, pardon and mercy, through the merits of Your Holy Wounds."

    • 7

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until you have made your way around the rosary. Each decade consists of one large bead and ten small beads. By the time you finish, you will have recited five decades.

    • 8

Recite the concluding prayer three times: "Eternal Father, I offer You the Wounds of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, to heal the wounds of our souls."
