Frame sliders

Frame sliders are used on some street motorcycles. The sliders protect the motorcycle's fairing, which is the shell-type covering over the motorcycles frame, since it sticks out. The frame sliders also protect the internal components from damage in case of an accident. Installing frame sliders doesn't take much time.

Things You'll Need

  • Frame slider kit
  • Torque wrench
  • Socket wrench
  • Socket extender

Instructions

    • 1

Remove engine bolt on the right side of the motorcycle. This will take a lot of strength since most of the time the bolt is very hard to unscrew. Use the socket wrench to remove the bolt.

    • 2

Install right-side frame slider. This slider is the longer one of the two that are in the kit. Use the long bolt supplied with kit and the thin washer. Use the socket extender to put this bolt in. Torque the bolt to 40 foot-lb. and use a socket wrench to tighten it.

    • 3

Remove left-side mounting bolt, which is right below the fairing. Use the socket torque to loosen it.

    • 4

Install the shorter frame slider on the left side of the motorcycle. You will use the short bolt and thick washer that are in the kit.

    • 5

Torque the bolt to 40 foot-lb. Tighten the bolt with the socket wrench.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the bolts are tightened before driving the motorcycle.
