1. First you need to purchase a box of hair color. You want to get semi permanent hair color. What that means is the hair color will wash out after about 6 weeks and there is no peroxide nor ammonia. Touch of Gray is one of the newest products for men that makes it very easy to do yourself. It will color your hair just enough and leave some gray so that it looks naturally.

2. Choose a color that is closest to your own hair. When you look at the box color, it doesn't mean that your hair color will turn out exactly like it is on the box. The boxes will say colors like dark brown, medium brown, dark black, etc. If you are not sure if you are dark brown or medium brown, then choose medium brown as you can always do it again and go darker but you can't go lighter till the next time you color your hair.

3. Shampoo it in and 5 minutes later shampoo it out. In 6 weeks, about the time you are ready for another hair cut, you will need to do it again.

4. If you are overwhelmed by doing it yourself, then you can go to the hair salon and have it done. Redken has a new product called color camo that will do the same subtle coloring.
