Most kids want a bedroom that reflects their personality and the things they like to do. If you have a son who loves skateboarding then a bedroom decorated with a skateboarding theme is just what he needs. As with decorating any room in a house it takes imagination and a little money to get the perfect look and this room will be no different. Let your skater kid's creativity and personality shine through during the decorating of his room.

Things You'll Need:

  • Skateboards Metal Hinges Nails Hammer Paint Rug
  1. Step 1

Make shelves out of skateboards. Take a couple of old skateboards or buy some at a yard sale and take the wheels off the bottom. Wash them down and let them dry. Use a metal bracket to each side of the skateboard to attach to the wall. You can also find a skateboard that is broke in half or cut one in half and attach it to the wall with the ends pointed outward. They will look as if they are coming out of the wall.

  2. Step 2

Get 5 or 6 old skateboards and take the wheels off. Either leave as are or put a fresh coat of paint on them and then nail to a headboard and attach to the bed frame. You can also nail a board to the wall and nail the old skateboards to it. Push the bed up to the wall and you have a skateboard headboard.

  3. Step 3

Paint the room in bright colors like red, yellow or blue. When the paint dries, add a border with a skater print on it. You can purchase a wall mural or hang pictures or posters of skaters on the walls. If you feel comfortable with the idea, then let your child either paint the walls or add graffiti to them for an authentic skater look.

  4. Step 4

Buy an area rug with a skateboard theme on it to decorate the room. You could also get some sheets, pillow cases and blankets to help decorate a skateboard themed bedroom. Make sure that the rug and bedding match the rest of the room. One idea is to take a picture of your child on his skateboard and have it transferred to a pillow, blanket or even a poster.

  5. Step 5

Take an old skateboard and attach it to the wall. Add some coat hooks to the skateboard and now you have a place to hang hats and backpacks along with coats. Try using the wheels you took off the old skateboards as knobs for dresser drawers.
