Step 1
Match bathing suits based on color. Decide on a color that both people agree on and find swimming suits in that color. Do not worry about patterns. For instance, choosing green and blue as the color choices may result in a green swimsuit with blue polka dots for the woman and blue shorts with a green stripe for the man. Choosing two colors, or choosing shades of the same color, may make finding matching suits easier than choosing one color.

Step 2
Go for matching based on pattern. Be careful when shopping based on pattern, that the effect created is not too busy when you stand next to each other. Matching with patterns should be much more subtle than matching with color.
-
Step 3
Pick a style. Perhaps the man will wear swimwear that look like briefs to match the woman's bikini. Other styles that both sexes could wear may be competitive bathing suits for professional swimmers.
-
Step 4
Choose to match based on the detail of the bathing suits. Match men's, and women's bathing suits with the embroidery. Find sewn details of flowers or palm trees on the swimwear of both sexes. Find similar beads hanging from the bikini ties of a woman's swimsuit that match the waist cinch of a man's board shorts.

Step 5
Select swimsuit cover-ups to match. Match a man with flowered shorts by putting a flowered cover-up over the woman. Make a blue cover-up match the blue in the T-shirt a man uses as a cover-up. Make mesh shorts match a mesh dress the woman may wear over her swimsuit.
