Things You'll Need:
- Longboard Skateboard motor kit Wrench or ratchet set Drill Pencil
-
Step 1
Remove the rear truck and wheels from the longboard. A wrench or ratchet set can be used to do this.
-
Step 2
Read the instructions of your motor kit to find the recommended placement for the motor. It should be somewhere near the tail of the board.
-
Step 3
Measure the drill points in accordance to the instructions and mark each point with a pencil. Double-check your measurements to ensure they are accurate.
-
Step 4
Drill through each pencil marking to create the bolt holes. Then, use the nuts and bolts (should be included in the motor kit) to attach the motor to the longboard.
-
Step 5
Attach the new rear wheels to the longboard. You may need the nuts to remain loose so you can get the belt on more easily in the next step.
-
Step 6
Attach the belt to the fixed position of the pulley, which can be found on the engine. Then, attach the other end of the belt to the pulley that attaches to the wheels.
-
Step 7
Tighten all bolts to make the assembly secure. Check to make sure the belt is nice and tight. If it is not, you may want to add some spacers to the rear truck.
-
Step 8
Connect the accelerator wire so that it runs from the engine to the hand-held knob. Turn on the motor and test your new longboard. When you turn the knob, the board should move forward.
