Instructions

Gather all of the material onto a large table in different piles. If there are very small children, make sure that you use safety scissors or cut everything out yourself for them. Take the construction paper and fold each letter-size piece in half. Fold as many as you are planning on sending out and a few extras for last-minute cards.

Cut out images from the old Christmas cards and images from magazines. Put them in piles for the children so they can choose which pictures they'd like to use. Cut pieces of felt in small squares to go on the front of the Christmas cards. You can even cut out ovals or rectangles with zigzag edges.

Glue the felt pieces or small doilies onto the front of the Christmas cards. Glue cut-out images from old Christmas cards and magazines onto the felt or doily piece.

Kids love the way glitter makes everything more magical!

Let the kids get creative! Use glitter for a shimmery border around the image on the front. Let them color and draw designs on the front and inside of the card. The main part of this is to let them be creative and to have fun! On the back of the cards, have them, or help them, write Created by: (their name here).

Tips & Warnings

  • Guide kids to put things back where they belong so you don't have such a mess to clean up after you are done. Let the kids experiment with placement of pictures. They will pleasantly surprise you because they always think outside the box! You can do this for other Holidays and birthdays as well!

  • Be sure than no one eats any glue or glitter. Be careful with scissors! Safety scissors are perfect for this project.
