How to Install Fonts for GIMP

Installing new fonts for the GIMP application is super easy. All you need to do is find a free font site and install. And then you'll be on your way to GIMP happiness.

      Find a free font site, such as Abstract Fonts (abstractfonts.com).

      Download and install the desired font to your desktop.

      Navigate to the "Start" menu and select the "Control Panel." The Control Panel appears.

      Double-click the "Fonts" icon. The "Fonts" folder appears. Minimize the Fonts window, go back to the desktop and drag and drop the desired font file into your "Fonts" folder. The font is installed.

      To view the installed font, open up GIMP and scroll through your fonts until you locate the font that you installed

Tips & Warnings

  • A good font can make all the difference in a GIMP project so be creative and install as many fonts as you can.

  • For this this "How To" my computer has Windows XP, so if you do not have Windows XP your desktop might be a little different, so don't get frustrated if everything is not where I say it's supposed to be.
