You can clean your toilet bowl without the unhealthy and expensive commercial products. With natural (and common) products that you may already have in your kitchen, you can create homemade toilet cleaners that will be safe for your family, the environment, and save money too.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    RECIPE 1:

For a clean bowl, pour in a few cups of white vinegar before bed and let it sit overnight, in the morning brush with a toilet brush, and flush. The acetic acid in the vinegar will kill viruses, germs, bacteria and mold; as well as dissolving mineral deposits.

  2. Step 2

    RECIPE 2:

Make a thin paste of borax and lemon juice. Flush the toilet to wet the bowl and rub the paste unto the toilet bowl ring. Let this set for a few hours. Scrub and then flush to rinse. Make sure the paste is thin but not runny.

  3. Step 3

    RECIPE 3:

Sprinkle baking soda into the bowl, then spray with vinegar and brush with a toilet brush.

  4. Step 4

    RECIPE 4:

Flush toilet to wet the sides of the bowl. Sprinkle 1 cup borax around the toilet bowl, then spray with 1/2 cup white vinegar. Leave solution on for a few hours or overnight then scrub with a toilet brush.

on 1/4/2009 Why is it important to kill bacteria in a toilet bowl? The next time it is used it will be full of bacteria once more. The main concern should be cleaning off the porcelain surfaces.
