451 Press is a great way to get a foot in the door to professional freelance writing and earn some money while you're at it. The writing skill requirements are not that stringent to be hired, but there are certain blogging standards that must be met. The site has been much improved from the past. For instance, it already places ads onto your blogs, and technical improvements have been made to accommodate more traffic without shutting down as often in the past. For this article, we're going to assume that you've already been hired by 451 Press.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PayPal account Password and user name 451 Press provides you Basic knowledge of WordPress

    Blog On

  1. Step 1

Click on the link 451 Press has emailed you. That's the link to your blog's dashboard (where you can write posts). You may have to enter a username and password. Those will also be on the email that 451 Press sent to you.

  2. Step 2

Write a title that includes a keyword as to what the article is about. Cute or vague titles like "I Hate Mondays" won't pull in the readers that in turn give you money.

  3. Step 3

Write a post that is at least 350 words long. You can do a 125-word post, but you then must do two for you to get any money, otherwise 451 Press will ignore it. If you include the embedded code of a YouTube video, your post still needs to be at least 250 words long.

  4. Step 4

Write in any style you like, but don't write about porn, hate themes or about any problems you may be having with 451 Press. Those posts get yanked and can get you fired if enough readers complain.

  5. Step 5

Include an image with your post. 451 Press does not care about what kinds of images you use, but it is highly recommended you use royalty-free or non-copyrighted images.

  6. Step 6

Add a link to either an older post in your blog or a link to any other 451 Press blog. This not only helps drive traffic to your blog, but keeps 451 Press very happy. You can be as playful and irreverent as you want in picking what blogs you link to and why.

  7. Step 7

Blog four more times in a week. You need to make a minimum if 20 posts per month, although they will allow some exceptions.

Tips & Warnings
  • It takes time to make some money from a 451 Press blog. Expect your first month's intake to be about $15 - $20. In a year, it should be about $40 -$50. It's great to submit to blog carnivals to help drive traffic to your site. Payment is through PayPal only. You don't need to send an invoice.
  • Don't pay attention to a lot of negative spin on 451 Press from disgruntled former employees. Many of these writers left before many major changes were made. Don't lose the email 451 Press sends you when you are hired. It will include a link to the 451 Press Forums, which cannot be accessed by the general public. That will include a different password than for your blog(s). If you have a technical problem, you must go to the forums for help. If the forums are down, email 451 Press' Advertising division. They are best ones to forward your email to the right person.
