Dollhouses can be very elaborate and realistic. Some even have real working electric lights. Believe it or not, wiring a dollhouse for electric lights is not as difficult as you might think. Most hobby shops sell dollhouse wiring kits. These kits can also be purchased online. The wiring kit will contain everything you need in order to install real working light fixtures in your dollhouse.

Things You'll Need:

  • Dollhouse Dollhouse wiring kit Pencil
  1. Step 1

Decide where you would like the electrical outlets to be installed inside the dollhouse. Mark the spots with a pencil.

  2. Step 2

Run the wiring. The wires will be attached to a strip of copper tape. Run the tape along the walls, being sure that the wires run across the previously marked spots where you want the electrical outlets to be installed.

  3. Step 3

Connect the end of the wires to the transformer that came in the dollhouse wiring kit.

  4. Step 4

Paint or wallpaper the walls of your dollhouse. This will not only improve the appearance of the dollhouse, but it will also hide the wiring tape.

  5. Step 5

Use the special eyelet tool to push the eyelets into the spots where you want the outlets. Now you have created places for the miniature lamps to plug into the walls.

  6. Step 6

Plug in the lamps, chandeliers and other light fixtures into the outlets that you just created inside the dollhouse.

  7. Step 7

Plug the transformer into an electrical outlet in your home.

  8. Step 8

Turn on the lights in the dollhouse and confirm that they are all lit and working properly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always be careful when working with electricity. Do not plug in the transformer until you are finished making the wiring connections.
