One of the best features about the Microsoft XBOX 360 controller is the USB plug that allows it to be used in just about any USB enabled device. You can use the controller as a mouse to navigate in your personal home computer as long as it has a USB port and you have a connection to the Internet.
Download the support drivers for your XBOX 360 controller on Microsoft's official website (see Resources below).
Plug the XBOX 360 controller into the USB port on your computer.
Download a software program that allows your operating system to fully recognize the controller as an input device, such as Pinnacle Game Profiler or Joy2Key (see Resources below).
Follow the program's installation instructions to install the software on your computer.
Assign keyboard and mouse controls to the various buttons on your controller using the software program that you installed.
Tips & Warnings
- You can also use a wireless XBOX 360 controller as a mouse by purchasing a Microsoft wireless receiver device at your local game store. The wireless receiver then just plugs into the USB port in the same way that a regular wired controller would.
- The software that allows you to use the XBOX controller as a mouse is not compatible with Windows 98 or earlier versions.
