Step 1
Know what type of fabric your wife would enjoy. Basically, there are two types of bathrobes. Some bathrobes are like a towel on the inside and actually dry a person off. Other bathrobes are more soft and “cuddly.” You may be surprised to learn that your wife would prefer the towel-like bathrobes. If your wife likes to sit and dry off before getting dressed, she would most likely prefer the towel bathrobe. However, if she's somebody who dries off immediately after exiting the shower, you should buy a softer bathrobe.

Step 2
Choose the length of the bathrobe. There are bathrobes that come up to just the waist and others that go all the way down to the floor. An easy way to know which one to get is to notice how your wife covers up with a blanket. If she likes to bundle underneath the entire blanket, buy a full-length bathrobe. If she's somebody who only places the blanket over part of her body, considering buy a half or three-fourths length bathrobe.

Step 3
Pick a color or design for the bathrobe that your wife will enjoy. Many men assume that because they're buying a bathrobe and not an article of clothing, their wives won't care how the item looks. This isn't true at all. Since bathrobes come in practically every color, finding one that your wife will like isn't a very hard task.

Step 4
Go to the store and examine different types of bathrobes. Feel both the inside and outside of the bathrobe and think about your wife's tastes. Hold the bathrobe up and notice the length. Think about whether or not you could see your wife wearing the bathrobe. Doing all of these things will help you make a better purchase.

Step 5
Buy a bathrobe that comes with a belt. Even if your wife doesn't use the belt, she can just as easily remove it or leave the bathrobe open.
