When you want to change the theme or background image on your Twitter profile page, you can upload your own design. The default background is the blue sky with clouds, but you can upload your own logo, picture or theme design directly from your desktop.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Twitter account
  • Your image in GIF, JPG or PNG format
  1. Step 1

Log in to your Twitter account. Enter your username and password on the Twitter.com page so you are looking at your profile page.

  2. Step 2

Select "Settings" from the top menu bar. "Settings" is located in the top right corner and is the fourth option in the menu bar.

  3. Step 3

Select the "Design" tab from your account management options. This page will show you a grid of pre-designed themes and give you the option to change your background image.

  4. Step 4

Select "Change background image." This button is located directly under the themes section. Once selected, a new area will pop up below the tab.

  5. Step 5

Upload your image. Use the "Browse" feature to upload your selected image into the system. This process will take a few seconds.

  6. Step 6

Decide if you want to tile the image. Checking the "Tile background" box will create a series of duplicate images across your profile page. This works well for some designs, but not for all of them; if your background image is formatted correctly, it may look better in full size directly behind your Twitter updates page.

  7. Step 7

Select "Save changes" to confirm the modifications. This button is located directly below the uploading section; once you click this, the background image will update automatically.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your background image must be smaller than 880k in GIF, JPG or PNG format; you may need to resize the image before uploading.
  • Modify your design so that it shows up clearly behind your Twitter updates page.
  • You can also change your design colors to match your images from the "Settings" section.
  • You will lose your work if you forget to "Save changes" before changing screens.
