How to Make a Cat Costume for Girls
Making a Halloween cat costume for a little girl is simple once you buy the materials. The ears and tail are simple shapes that most people can cut. For the body, there is no need for a pattern. Your child can be your pattern in a pinch, which ensures a perfect fit.
Things You'll Need
- 3 yards stretchy fabric
- matching thread
- Sewing machine (or you can sew by hand)
- Hair band
- 1 large safety pin
- Hot glue gun and sticks
- Faux fur trim
- Stuffing
- Seamstress pencil
Instructions

1
Cut a piece of cloth that is 2 feet long and 2 inches wide. Cut four triangles that are about 2 inches tall from the end of the fabric. These will be the ears. The rest of this piece of fabric will be used as a tail.
-
2
Sew two of the triangles together to make a pouch. Turn it right-side-out and stuff it. Sew the opening shut and glue the ear to the headband. Repeat this step for the other ear.

3
Sew the fabric for the tail into a tube shape with one end open. Turn it right side out and stuff it. Sew the tail shut.
-
4
Fold the large piece of fabric in half and lay it on the floor. Have your child lay down on the fabric. Trace her outline to make a pattern.
-
5
Cut the fabric out so that you have two matching pieces.
-
6
Sew them together to make a body suit. Trim the wrists, neckline and ankles of the bodysuit with the faux fur by gluing or sewing it on.
-
7
Pin the tail to the back of the body suit and you're done.
