Instructions

    • 1

Layer ingredients in the following order: white sugar, 1/4 cup flour, brown sugar, 1/2 cup flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, rolled oats and raisins. If necessary, add additional raisins until the mix reaches the top of the jar.

    • 2

Place the lid on the jar and secure it tightly. Place the square of fabric over the lid and tie ribbon around the sides of the lid to secure the fabric.

Use a computer word-processing program to create a label and instructions, or handwrite, if preferred. The instructions should read:
Empty jar of cookie mix into a large mixing bowl. Use your hands to thoroughly blend mix. Add 1/2 cup butter, softened; 1 egg, slightly beaten; and 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix until well blended. Drop the mixture by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes.

The label should include pertinent information such as what kind of cookie mix is in the jar, your name and the recipient's name, and the occasion for which you are giving the cookie mix as a gift.

Attach the label and instructions to the jar either by punching a hole in the corner of each and tying them to the ribbon on the jar lid or by using glue or rubber cement to stick them directly to the jar.
