Where to Buy Graffiti Markers
Graffiti markers are not always available locally. Recently there have been rules in many cities banning the purchase of Sharpie markers in bulk or if you are under 18 to prevent tagging. Getting real graffiti markers is a little more difficult at local stores. But with the Internet, word of mouth and graffiti specialty shops opening across the United States, graffiti has become more of a respected hobby than ever before. And with graffiti being accepted as a known art form, many graffiti markers and spray paints are now available at craft stores and art supply stores across the country. Follow the steps below to find out where to buy graffiti markers in your area.

1
Check your local hardware store. Crude graffiti pens that will still do the job but aren't as fancy as the ones carried in specialty stores are available at places like Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and other stores. Pens like Sharpie, Marks-a-lot, Magnum 44, Pen-touch, and Markette 336 are available for purchase, as they are not used only for graffiti. Be aware that if you are under 18, you may not be able to purchase these pens in some states. You may also not be able to purchase these pens in bulk.

Check your local art supply store. Art supply stores carry spray paint as well as paint pens and some graffiti pens. Dick Blick has a water-resistant pen called Blick Studio Markers that can be used as graffiti markers. The Dixon Redisharp, sold at art supply stores such as Pearl Paint, is a waterproof and odorless permanent marker that provides clear and smudgeless graffiti results. Many art stores including Pearl also carry the Sakura Solid Marker, a heavy-duty permanent marker that can write on snow and mud.

Check craft stores. Craft stores like Michael's carry a wide variety of Sharpie colors and other permanent markers like Marks-alot and Markette 336. Michael's also carries the Sharpie Paint Marker, a permanent paint pen that writes on rubber and wood as well as glass and concrete. Again, you may not be able to purchase these pens in some states if you are under 18.

Check specialty graffiti stores. Many towns are not lucky enough to have a specialty graffiti store on hand. But in large cities and some lucky towns, you will find graffiti stores carrying specialty products. In New York, there's Scrap Yard Inc., where many colors and brands of spray paint and paint pens are available, such as Krink Squeeze and On the Run markers.

Check online graffiti websites. There are tons of great graffiti websites where you can purchase graffiti pens and spray paints online. Bombing Science has a variety of mop markers, including Junobo and Do'em Dirty. Paint markers include brands like Molotow, which includes a pump system to control your paint flow perfectly. Other graffiti websites include Turntable Lab, which exclusively carries Krink paint markers and Squeeze markers. See the "Resources" section for more information on Bombing Science and Turntable Lab.
