Tips & Warnings
You will have 60 days to find a residence that meets HUD requirements and whose owner is willing to participate in the Section 8 program.
If you are unable to find a suitable home within 60 days, you may be able to request an extension.
If your current residence meets all of the requirements and your landlord is willing to participate in the program, you may use your voucher for it.
If your area's housing specialist is not accepting applications, you will not be able to put your name on the waiting list. Your local newspaper will announce open application periods when they become available.
Once Section 8 housing is approved, your household income and size will be evaluated annually. Additionally, your home will also be inspected once per year.
