Instructions

Military time has the format HH:MM with no AM or PM. After 12 noon, military time keeps adding one to the hour, until it nears 24. So, 13:00 is 1:00 PM and so on.

    • 2

If the hour number is 12 or below, you don't have to do any conversion. The 12-hour time is the same as military time. It is AM time (except 12:XX, which is PM time just like in regular time).

    • 3

For hour numbers greater than 12, subtract two from it.

Example, 15:00 minus two hours is 13:00.
Example, 22:00 minus two hours is 20:00.

    • 4

If the first hour digit is a one, ignore it. If it's a two, replace it with a 1.

Example, 13:00 ignoring the one is 3:00.
      Example, 20:00 replace 2 with 1 is 10:00.

    • 5

That's it! Add a PM and that's your time in 12-hour format.

Read the steps in order, nismobuyer. I explain exactly what you are saying. 1500 minus 2 hours is 1300, drop the 1 and it's 3:00 PM. 1500 = 3:00 PM
