Instructions

  1. Carnations, Candy and Candles

    • 1

Place enough floral foam in the bottom of the basket or bowl to cover the entire bottom.

    • 2

Place the floral candle holders in the foam, and put the candles in the holders.

    • 3

Cut the stems of the carnations so the flowers come just over the top of the container. Make them just a little taller in the center and work them down as you come toward the edges. Keep the greenery on the carnations.

    • 4

Break the wooden skewers in half--they don't have to be the same size. Paint them red and let them dry for about an hour.

    • 5

Glue heart-shaped candies on the unbroken part of the skewer. Let the glue dry.

    • 6

Insert the sticks into the foam between the flowers.

    Roses and Candy

    • 7

Measure the serving tray and cut a piece of Styrofoam to cover it.

    • 8

Cut a hole the size of your vase in the center of the Styrofoam, about an inch down.

    • 9

Pin a wide piece of ribbon around the sides of the Styrofoam, and place the vase in the hole.

    • 10

Cut the rosebuds to 2 or 3 inches tall, and stick them in the Styrofoam, mixing up the colors. Put in the leaves that came with the buds, and place the baby's breath around to make it look full.

    • 11

Spray lightly with a fabric glue and dust with silver glitter.

    • 12

Fill the vase about 3/4 full of Valentine's Day candy, and insert six chocolate roses in the candy.

This gives me a good jumping-off point. I can see how it would be easy to use some things I have on hand to do this.
