How to Dress Like 30 Seconds to Mars

30 Seconds to Mars is an alternative/emo rock group from Los Angeles. The members are singer/guitarist Jared Leto, his older brother Shannon Leto on drums and Tomo Milicevic on guitar. Their music and style has been heavily influenced by other cultures, including Asian and South African. The group's style has been tagged as Gothic and post-grunge. Here you will find the basic way to achieve these three looks.

• Black skinny jeans
• Black shirt

• Arm warmers or gloves

Instructions

1. 

   Get familiar with the color scheme. The group's stage costumes are usually red, black or white. They believe red is the color of passion, love, blood and life. These are all things that they feel are connected through their music. Base your outfits on this basic rule. Use the color red as your guide.

2. Be artistic. This group puts a lot of thought into what they wear. They are not about gimmicks or trends. Their videos, their album covers, are all influenced by real art. Once you have your accent color off red, you need a base of black. Try a black button up shirt with a red tie, or black trousers with a red belt.

3. 

   Being casual. The casual look of the band is closer to the post-grunge image. Rock and roll concert tees and skinny jeans are the usual articles worn. You can add accessories such as arm warmers or gloves.

   Be Gothic. The members of the group have varying degrees of Gothic style. Jared is more dressy, Tomo is more casual and Shannon is in between. For a dressy look pair black skinny jeans, a black button up and a gray suit jacket. Casual Goth can be achieved by a black hoodie over a gray sweater and jeans. And, if you're in between go for a black leather jacket, black shirt and jeans.

5. 

   Don't be afraid of eyeliner. This is a staple in the band's style file. The members are almost always seen with some type of eye makeup. If you don't feel comfortable with the full smokey eye look, you can draw some liner on just the lower lid. It gives a darker feel without looking too obvious.
