How to Make a Wreath of Presidents for President's Day
Presidents' Day is a great day to teach children about American history. Teachers and home educators should choose a few noteworthy presidents to focus on. It is helpful if there is some type of lesson to go along with this craft. Once the lesson is given, children can create a wreath for Presidents' Day. This wreath is decked out in America's colors of red, white and blue and features six U.S. presidents.

1
Choose six presidents to focus on and make copies of their faces. If you don't have pictures of them in your textbook, find them on the Internet.
-
2
Cut out the faces of the presidents. Set them aside.
-
3
Cut out a large circle from a cardboard box. You could use the circle cardboard found under a pizza. To draw a circle on a big square piece of cardboard, flip a large mixing bowl upside down and trace around it with a pencil.
-
4
Cut out the middle of the large circle, leaving an O shape.
-
5
Cut out 25 to 30 stars from red, white and blue construction paper. Use a star shaped cookie cutter to get them just right. (If you do 30, make 10 of each color.)
-
6
Glue the stars randomly around the wreath. Close up the gaps when you get near the end. It is okay if some of the stars overlap.
-
7
Glue the six president's faces on the stars around the circle.
-
8
Hang the wreath in your classroom on a nail, or use masking tape in the back.
