How to Use Dreamweaver CS4 Horizontal and Vertical Split View

In Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 there are new ways to view both code and design or just code. You can even view the same page of code in two windows. Read on to learn how.

Things You'll Need:

  • Dreamweaver CS4 software
  1. Step 1
    Split Vertical
    Split Vertical

    Open a page in Dreamweaver. To view Code and Design, you can click the Split button that has been in use in Dreamweaver for several versions--or now you can choose View > Split Vertically and see Code and Design side by side.

  2. Step 2

    As in previous versions of Dreamweaver, a change in one view is instantly changed in the other.

  3. Step 3

    When you make a change in the Code, you still have to click in the Design window to see the change take effect.

  4. Step 4

    When viewing just the Code, you can also choose View > Split View or View > Split Vertically. You can copy and paste from one window to another. Anything you change in one window is also immediately changed in the other.
