Though there is a lot of emphasis in our culture on goal-setting, very few people actually follow through on the goals that they set. This is often not due to a lack in character but a lack of knowledge on how to follow through with long-term goals. In this article, I want to show you some tips that have helped me personally.

Things You'll Need:

  • The desire to follow through with the long-term goals you set for yourself.
  1. Step 1

Write Your Goals Down--Even if You Already Know Mentally What They Are

There is something about doing this that makes your goals more real and concrete. It also sets your mind up to want to pursue them as if you were fulfilling a contract with yourself.

  2. Step 2

Try to Move Forward in Your Goal Each Day--Even If It's Minor Progress

Sometimes a goal can seem so overwhelming and huge you don't know where to start. This paralyzes people from taking action. I look at it as if you're hammering on a boulder--enough chips at it, and it's eventually going to be more and more manageable.

  3. Step 3

Take the Time to Look Back on Your Progress

Sometimes when you're in the middle of something it can seem like you're trudging through mud, but when you look back to how much you've accomplished in a year it seems more like a huge leap.

  4. Step 4

Remind Yourself of the Bigger "Whys" Behind What You're Doing

If your hardest moments when you feel like giving up, you have to have major reasons for what you're doing. Otherwise your goals will fall by the wayside in favor of other things

  5. Step 5

    Celebrate Your Successes

When things pay off, be happy. Reward yourself and get ready for the next big step.

I hope you found these tips helpful! Best wishes to you!
