Things You'll Need:
- Good thinking and a desire for sleep.
-
Step 1
Develop a regular "going to bed and wake up" routine. When you do this on a regular basis, you will find that your body will respond. This is a positive habit that will lead to a good sleeping pattern.
-
Step 2
Keep a relaxing and calming bedtime routine. Several hours before going to bed, read or watch an interesting TV program. Listening to relaxing music also helps.
-
Step 3
Sometimes eating a light snack at night helps, such as toast and a glass of milk.
-
Step 4
Avoid alcohol and caffeine, for they stimulate the body and brain and will keep you awake.
-
Step 5
Light exercise four to five hours before going to bed also helps. Walking is the best, for it calms the body down and tells the brain that everything is alright.
