Things You'll Need:
- White coat
- Goggles
- Galoshes
- Gloves
-
Step 1
Dr. Horrible wears a white lab coat that is in the style of the 1940's. You can find a white lab coat at most costume shops. You can make your own lab coat by putting on two white over-sized shirts. Put one on the regular way and then another one on backwards. Super glue a row of buttons on the right shoulder from the neckline to the top of the shoulder and add a pair of white pants.
-
Step 2
Another alternative for the smock is to see if you can borrow a lab coat from a pharmacist, dentist, or chef.
-
Step 3
Take a red and black marker and put a medical logo on the left.
-
Step 4
Put on a pair of white pants.
-
Step 5
Fencing glues are perfect for the costume. You might be able to find a pair at a costume shop or get a pair at a thrift store. Another option is to buy a pair of welding gloves or garden gloves. Garden gloves come in different styles and colors. You could always use a pair of black rubber gloves, too.
-
Step 6
Dr. Horrible has white galoshes and they may be difficult to find and if you can't find them then wear a pair of black galoshes. Another idea is a pair of nurse shoes or crocs.
-
Step 7
Add a pair of welding goggles. They should be silver. These are hard to come by so you could substitute a pair of swimming goggles spray painted silver. Don't forget to put masking tape on the lenses before you spray paint them.

on 7/23/2009 I would argue, however, that welding goggles aren't at all hard to come by. I've found several different styles available for not much money online. Even a few on Amazon.com. Any of those would look better than swimming goggles for this costume.

on 1/17/2009 Ah, you are a life saver. I was wondering about the goggles for my costume next year. I couldn't find any. Swimming goggles spray painted silver are a good idea. Now where to get the freeze ray D:

on 1/12/2009 This is an excellent how-to for a low-budget costume, but if the details (like the coat, boots, and goggles) aren't just right, then the costume wouldn't be Dr. Horrible. One could never use just any lab coat, for instance.
