Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a fireplace
  • firewood
  • newspaper
  • kindling
  • lighter/matches
  1. Step 1

    Place a midsize (6-inch diameter) log near the rear wall of the fireplace. This is your "back log."

  2. Step 2

    Stuff newspaper under and in front of the back log. Arrange dry, thin sticks of kindling on top of the papter, propping them against the back log.

  3. Step 3

    Place another midsize log a few inches in front of and parallel to the back log and a third log diagonally on top of the two.

  4. Step 4

    Light the newspaper. Stoke the fire, occasionally, adding more logs as necessary.
