Things You'll Need:
- Red and white finger or craft paint
- Paintbrush
- Green construction or poster paper
- Red ribbon or yarn
- Hole punch
- Gold or silver glitter (optional)
- Glue (optional)
- Scissors
- Black and red markers
-
Step 1
Place a sheet of green poster or construction paper onto a flat work surface.
-
Step 2
Paint the tip of your child's thumb with white craft paint, the bottom of her palm with red craft paint, and a thin layer of white paint right above the red paint on the palm. Mix red and white paint to make a creamy pink paint and apply it to the rest of your child's palm. Paint another thin line of white on the palm of the hand before the fingers begin, and use the creamy pink to paint your child's fingers.
-
Step 3
Lay your child's painted hand flat on the sheet of green construction paper and press all areas of the hand down firmly on the paper.
-
Step 4
Lift your child's hand. Fill in any empty areas of your handprint Santa with paint from a paintbrush. Sometimes an area of the hand will not touch the paper, so you will have to fill it in yourself. The white thumb and red bottom of the palm form a Santa hat, while the pink palm and fingers make a face, arms and legs. The thin white layer of paint on the palm forms a beard.
-
Step 5
Cut a circle around the handprint Santa to make a round ornament for your Christmas tree.
-
Step 6
Punch a hole in the top of your ornament and thread a piece of red ribbon or yarn through it, and display it on your tree or in other areas of your home.
