How to Make an Olive Oil Scrub

Olive oil has been used as natural skin care remedies by Italians for centuries. This natural exfoliant made of olive oil and sea salt (or Epsom salts) only takes a few seconds to make, yet will leave your skin feeling soft and supple for days. These ingredients are inexpensive and can be purchased at a local grocery store. This scrub also helps soften the extra dry parts of the body such as the hands, knees, elbows and heels of the feet.

Things You'll Need

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Coarse sea salt or epsom salts
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon

In a mixing bowl, mix 3 tablespoons of olive oil with 2 tablespoons coarse sea salt or Epsom salts.

With a spoon, mix the olive oil and sea salt or Epsom salts thoroughly together.

In the shower or bath, scoop a handful of the olive oil scrub mixture onto your hands or on a body puff.

In a circular motion, scrub the olive oil mixture into your skin. Scrub more mixture into extra dry parts of the body (hands, feet, elbows and knees)

Rinse off mixture with warm water in the shower or bath. You'll immediately notice smoother skin.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also add aromatherapy oils to the scrub like lavender. Lavender is very soothing and an aromatherapy-infused scrub will feel relaxing at the end of a busy day.
  • Avoid scrubbing this mixture on your face or around the eye area. If you get the mixture in your eyes, immediately wash out your eyes with water.
