How to Remove Spilled Wax From Microfiber Fabric

It's a romantic evening. You have candles lit everywhere. You get up in a hurry, accidentally knocking a table of candles right into your sofa. Luckily, a fire doesn't start. However, you are left with hot wax all over the borrowed microfiber sofa. It's possible to get even hot wax out from microfiber. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Place a paper towel over the spot where wax has spilled. Make sure the paper towel covers the area with room to spare. It may require a couple of paper towels if the spill is large enough. The main point is covering the spill completely.

    • 2

Heat an iron on the low setting. Once it is fully heating, slowly run the iron over the paper towels. Do this slowly and carefully. Make sure all children are out of the room to decrease the likelihood of hazard. Iron over this slowly no more than three times.

    • 3

Remove the paper towels immediately. This should have removed some of the wax.

    • 4

Put several ice packs all over the area of the spill. These should be well-frozen and closed tightly so that the ice and water itself does not leak out onto the furniture. You don't want to create new furniture problems!

    • 5

Leave the ice packs there for thirty minutes to an hour. Carefully monitor the process. You want to remove the ice packs when the area is completely frozen, not when the ice itself starts to melt a lot.

    • 6

Pick at the wax with a butter knife. It should be frozen and peel off easily at this point. Try a sharper edge of plastic for any remaining wax.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do this method at your own risk. All stains and situations are different. It is guaranteed to get off all wax, but it has worked wonders in many scenarios.
