Things You'll Need:
- Safety stands
- Floor jack
- Wrench set
-
Step 1
Raise your Toyota Tundra and support it on safety stands by the frame, and remove the wheel nearest the spring you intend to replace.
-
Step 2
Support the rear axle, independently of the lift in Step 1, with a floor jack. The purpose of this is to take tension off the spring.
-
Step 3
Remove or disconnect the spring seat nuts and the spring seat, then unfasten the nuts and bolts holding the front and back of the leaf spring to the vehicle chassis and remove the leaf spring from the vehicle.
-
Step 4
Place the new leaf spring in the vehicle and bolt it in place, torquing the nuts to 125 foot pounds. Replace the spring seat and torque its retaining nuts to 98 foot pounds of torque, then reinstall the rear wheel you removed in Step 1.
-
Step 5
Lower the floor jack supporting the rear axle and move it out of the way.
-
Step 6
Lower your Toyota Tundra and test drive it, checking for proper feel and sound in the suspension.
