Things You'll Need:
- Battery terminal puller
- Car jack
- Wrench
- Torque wrench

Step 1
Park your Ford Taurus on a level surface, activate the emergency brake and place blocks behind the back tires for safety. Disconnect the negative battery cable with a terminal puller.

Locate the speed sensor wire in the engine compartment and disconnect it.

Raise the vehicle on the side of the wheel speed sensor's location. Remove the wheel and tire assemblies.

Step 4
Detach the speed sensor wire grommets from the rail bracket and from the retainer on the strut housing above the steering knuckle.

Step 5
Unscrew the speed sensor retaining bolt and remove the sensor from the steering knuckle.

Step 6
Install the new speed sensor by reversing the removal process. Torque the retaining bolt to between 90 and 120 inch pounds (10.2 to 13.8 Nm).

Step 7
Lower the vehicle safely and reconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to your owner's manual to perform an ABS system check to confirm that you installed the sensor properly.
