Instructions

    • 1

Empty a container of white cake frosting into a small mixing bowl. Squirt 5 drops of green food, coloring into the frosting and mix thoroughly with a small plastic spatula and set aside.

    • 2

Wash a 4-inch clay flower pot with soap and water and allow to dry completely before using. Place the marbles inside of the clay pot and press a large green craft cone into the container until it is secure.

    • 3

Spread the cake frosting on the flat side of a small yellow gumdrop. Use enough of the icing to ensure that it squeezes out a little when you stick the gumdrop on the top of the craft cone.

    • 4

Show the children how to cover the remainder of the craft cone with the gumdrops and frosting, working their way down from the top of the cone. Place the gumdrops as close together as possible to ensure the entire tree is covered with the candy.

    • 5

Set the gumdrop Christmas tree aside and allow to dry overnight.

Tips & Warnings

  • To make the gumdrop tree appear more real, you can use green gumdrops adding a few red ones for Christmas ornaments.

  • Add enough marbles to the clay pot to keep it weighed down and prevent it from tipping over.

  • Do not include the marbles if children under the age of 5 years old will be involved in the project.
