How to Average Numbers
Would you like to average out how much gas you use a month or how many miles you drive, how many groceries you buy or how much cereal you eat a month. Here is how you calculate it.

1
First you need to have a total number for that week. For example, your total gas bill, i.e. $52.69.
-
2
Then you need the total gas bill for each time you fill up that month. For example, one week it was $52.69, the next week it was $55.97, the next week $42.35 and the next week was $57.85. You total it all up and it comes to $208.86.
-
-
3
The next step is to divide the $208.86 by the total number of times you bought gas that month, which in our example is 4. The answer is $52.00. So, it averages out $52.00 every time you fill up your gas tank.

4
Another example, you grocery bill for the past 4 weeks was $50.00, $45.00, $65.00 and $40.00. The average grocery bill would be the total amount $200 divided by 4, which equals $50.00. So, your average grocery bill is $50.00 a week.
