How to Split Tables in Microsoft Word 2003

The word processors of the modern day offer many useful features. Unlike older programs, where all you could do was create and edit text, the newer versions offer tons of useful things, like the ability to create, edit and modify tables inside of the word processor. This feature even allows the user to split the table into two tables to separate portions of date from each other.

Instructions

      Highlight where you wish to split the table. Click on the row of cells where you wish for the table split to occur. Hold the mouse button in as you drag the cursor across the entire row of cells. Release the button and the row of cells that you have selected will remain highlighted.

      Access the table menu. Click on the “Table” tab to access the table menu.

      Split the table. Click on “Split Table” and the table cells will split where you have selected.

      Undo the table split. Click on “Edit” and “Undo Table Split” to reverse any table split changes you make and to start over.

Tips & Warnings

  • Splitting tables is great for dividing portions of data within tables.

  • Splitting tables may compromise the formulas of cells within the tables.
