Hold the shade tray up to the roof interior and poke a screwdriver through the headliner at each corner using enough pressure to dimple to metal roof slightly. Tape the template to the top of the roof using the dimples as a guide. Remove the headliner carefully and set it aside.

Drill a starter hole through one of the dimples and cut out the roof with metal shears. Use the template as a guide making sure to be as precise as possible. Smooth the edges with a file and test the sunroof frame for fit. Make any adjustments needed and coat the bare metal with metal primer to resist rusting.
