Things You'll Need:
- Rag
- Drip pan
- Disposal container
-
Step 1
Turn off the engine and let your Highlander cool down for at least an hour. This allows the coolant to flow back into the radiator.
-
Step 2
Detach the coolant reservoir located on the right side of the engine compartment by loosening the coolant overflow hose from the reservoir and remove the reservoir. Be ready with a drain pan and rags to clean up any spilled coolant.
-
Step 3
Drain any coolant left in the tank into a tightly closed container for proper disposal.
-
Step 1
Attach the overflow hose to the new reservoir and insert the reservoir into the engine compartment.
-
Step 2
Fill the tank to the "cold" line with Toyota approved pre-mixed coolant and cap tightly.
-
Step 3
Turn the engine on and let it warm up to check for any coolant leaks from the overflow hose, radiator and tank. If you find any leaks, check the overflow hose first and tighten hose clamps as needed until there are no leaks.
