Step 1
Unscrew the interior trim pieces that secure your headliner to the interior of your Dodge Ram. Remove all of the trim and the headliner to access the sunroof.
-
Step 2
Disconnect the sunroof's power source, which is located at the rear of the sun roof. Remove the screws and bolts that fasten the sunroof to your Dodge Ram and set them aside.
-
Step 3
Ask a friend to help you lift the sunroof off of and away from your Dodge Ram to avoid damaging the sunroof or the truck.
-
Step 4
Tug on the existing rubber seal to remove it from the channel where it rests. Use your plastic scraping tool to remove the remaining seal and any adhesive left inside the channel. Check the channel for rust. If you find any, paint it with Rustoleum to prevent further corrosion.
-
Step 5
Install the new seal, beginning with the outer lip, then working to the inner lip. Check for bulges and wrinkles. Should you find any, remove the seal at that area and reinstall it until it sits evenly in the channel.
-
Step 6
Put your sun roof back on top of your truck and secure it with the screws and bolts you removed earlier. Don't forget to reconnect the power source so your sunroof is fully operational. Return the headliner and interior trim to their original position.
-
Step 1
Inspect the sunroof of your Dodge Ram to make sure it seats evenly on your vehicle, rather than raising or lifting at one corner. Lifting indicates the presence of debris on the tracks, or a damaged seal around the sunroof.
-
Step 2
Check the sunroof's drain tubes for clogging. Clear the tubes using compressed air and replace them so they can continue to drain excess water.
-
Step 3
Remove the trim on the interior of your Dodge Ram and allow the material to drop. Use compressed air to blow dust and debris from the tracks that move your sunroof. Lubricate them using 3-In-One, or the lubricant recommended by your owner's manual.
-
Step 4
Clean the sunroof's rubber seal with a clean, damp, lint-free cloth. Pay attention to the condition of this seal and replace if it shows signs of excessive wear.
