If you have a large party to feed in a hurry, cheesy bread may be the ticket. It's hot and filling, and very much like a pizza, just the thing to serve for those impromptu gatherings or for snacks anytime the mood strikes.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 cups cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • Green onion, finely chopped
  • 4 oz. mayonnaise or ranch dressing
  • 3 or 4 minced garlic cloves
  • 4 oz. soft butter
  • 1 loaf Italian or French bread
  1. Step 1

Mix the mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese and chopped green onion (to taste) in a small mixing bowl. Add the mayonnaise or ranch dressing, and stir it until the mixture is blended.

  2. Step 2

Place the minced garlic, Italian seasonings and butter in a separate bowl and mix it together until it's smooth and creamy. Add the garlic mixture to the cheese mixture and blend.

  3. Step 3

Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise. Evenly spread the cheese mixture over each of the two halves.

  4. Step 4

Preheat the broiler and put the cheesy bread under the broiler for about 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the bread when the cheese melts and the bread turns golden brown. Check the bread often so it doesn't burn.

Tips & Warnings
  • Vary the flavor of the cheesy bread. Add 1 to 2 tbsp. of sour cream to the mayonnaise mixture, or spread a thin layer of cream cheese on the bread before applying the cheese mixture.

on 9/1/2009 Made this cheesy bread, and it was GREAT! A lot of fat, but really, really nice and tasty! I used half-baked French bread, so I didn't get burnt during oven time. Thanx for sharing!
