  1. How to Apply Renaissance Makeup

    • 1

Cover your entire face with powder, using the pad that comes in the compact. Choosing a shade that matches your skin tone to cover up blemishes and flaws is important when dressing as a peasant wench for the festival. This will help take down any shininess that may be on your skin. Put some on your eyelids as well as it gives the eye shadow a place to stick to. Don't forget your t-zone (forehead, nose and chin). Usually the oiliest place on your face, it needs extra attention since you are not using concealer or foundation to cover up the small imperfections.

    • 2

Cover your entire upper eyelid, from eyelash line to eyebrow, in eye shadow. Choose a color that is one shade lighter than your skin tone to create an almost shadow affect. This will open up, brighten and draw attention your eyes as the darkest of eyeshades will, but in subtler way. Since you need to rely less on cosmetics when dressing as a peasant wench, the way you use them is important. Using the very edge of the applicator, put some of the same colored eye shadow along your bottom lid, just underneath your bottom lashes.

    • 3

Brush out your eyelashes with an eyelash brush before applying your black mascara. The only cosmetic that you'll use that may appear unnatural looking, mascara is what completes that demure flirty gaze. Do your lower eyelashes first and then your uppers. It should be applied in lighter coats, removing any excess mascara with tissue before applying it and brushing out your lashes between to prevent clumps and any blackness transferring to the skin around your eyes.

    • 4

Spread liquid sheer translucent blush on the apples of your cheeks and up your cheek bone into your hairline. This gives you the healthy glow of a traditional peasant wench without it looking unnatural in anyway and draws everyones gaze upwards right into your eyes. This is a great trick for extra highlighting of that feature. There is no need to add anything extra there such as another eye shadow color or eyeliner.

    • 5

Take some sheer powder, either compact form or with a large powder brush, and go over your entire face to set the cosmetics in before heading to the festival to show off what you learned about how to apply renaissance makeup.

Tips & Warnings

  • Foundation is too heavy a look for the peasant wench. If you cannot go without it, just make sure that it matches your skin tone exactly so that absolutely no cosmetic lines show.
