How to Save Money on Movie Theater Tickets

Going to the movies is getting harder for some people as the prices continue to rise for tickets. Some theaters offer special loyalty clubs or have a movie matinee so that you don't have to pay full price for movie tickets. But there are also other ways to save money on movie tickets.

Instructions

1. 

   Sign up for the Kerasotes Five Buck Club if you live in the states of Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Colorado, Wisconsin or Iowa. You can see certain movies for $5 at participating Kerasotes theaters.

2. 

   Go to the Five Buck Club movie website and read the information. Signing up for the club is free and easy to do. Fill out the information form by putting your name, address, phone number, and email address. Click the "Submit" button and then wait for your card to arrive. It can take to 4 to 6 weeks to receive it.

3. 

   Sign up for the weekly email alerts so that you will know which movies will be playing in the Five Buck Club. The participating movie theaters will not list these movies separately. You must look them up online or sign up for the email newsletter.

4. 

   View movies that are showing at off times if your state does not offer the Five Buck Club or a savings plan. Attend movies that show during the day when ticket prices are cheaper. Also, do not go to movies on opening night when tickets are usually more expensive. Wait until the movie has been playing at the theater for a few days. Call your local theater and ask about sneak previews for movies.

5. 

   Check with the theater about discounts that they might offer. Some theaters offer discounts for senior citizens or small children. College students often get movie theater tickets at student prices.

6. 

   Read your local newspaper and look for coupons. Sometimes movie theaters have a coupon that you can use for purchasing movie tickets. Surf the Internet for movie theater coupons too.
