How to Replace a Lost EZ Pass Device
New Yorkers who regularly commute over the George Washington Bridge, through the Lincoln Tunnel or down the New York State Thruway understand just how important the EZ Pass device is. Imagine your heartbreak if you were to discover that your NY EZ Pass tag had gotten lost or stolen. Fortunately, it isn’t difficult to replace an EZ Pass tag.

1
Make sure that the device is actually lost or stolen. The last thing you want to do is report your EZ Pass as lost, only to discover that it’s in the glove compartment of your teenager’s car.
-
2
Access the New York EZ pass website (follow the link in Resources) and sign into your account.

3
Navigate to the "Lost/Stolen Tag" section under the "Vehicle/Tag" menu item. Select the EZ Pass tag number for the missing device. Once you click on the tag number, you’ll have the option to label the device as lost or stolen. Once you disable the lost/stolen tag, you cannot use it again; therefore, it is very important that you are 100 percent sure the device is lost or was stolen.
-
4
Order a replacement tag while you're still signed into your account. You will have to pay for the new unit; if, however, you are seeking a replacement device because the device became inoperable or defective, there is no charge for replacement.

5
Call the NY State Thruway Authority at (800) 333-8655 if you prefer to speak to someone rather than order a replacement over the Internet.
