Instructions

    • 1

Be consistent. Pick an overall theme and stick with it, such as all gold or all silver. If earrings have colors on them, try to stay at least within the same color family.

    • 2

Be bold. Choose hoops of descending size. Start the largest at the bottom piercing and work your way up to the smallest at the top hole. This look says you are not afraid to speak your mind.

    • 3

Stay subtle. Line your ears with small balls, studs or gems of all the same color and size. This overall effect says you’re quietly stylish but still willing to make a statement.

    • 4

Mix it up. Alternate hoops with studs for every other piercing or use hoops of descending size order to the bottom piercings, working up to smaller and smaller studs. This look shows you have an open mind and are willing to try new things.

Dangle and dazzle. Long, dangling earrings work very well with multiple piercings as long as you take care not to let them tangle. Put the longest on the bottom hole and work your way up to the shortest. You can go with all dangling earrings or put studs in between. This look screams glamorous.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't feel stuck with earrings only. Some body jewelry works well with ear piercings.

  • If you must wear your favorite pair of huge earrings, put them in the bottom holes and either leave the top piercings empty or fill them with very small studs.

  • Avoid overlap. Earrings that are too close together and crunched onto the ear look dumb. If you want to wear larger earrings, skip every other hole if they are too close together.

  • Avoid overload. Don’t wear more than one extremely heavy or busy earring or your ears may appear ready to fall off. This is jewelry, not an arsenal.
