Step 1
Research for highly searched keywords. You can use services such as Wordtracker, market samurai, or free ones such as that provided by Google Adwords.

Step 2
Write on a topic which is in demand by a wide variety of people for best traffic potential (and highly likelihood of making it to front page status)

Check your spelling!! I see so many articles that had the intention of fantastic keywords but they spelled them wrong. They are of NO use to you spelled incorrectly. If a word becomes underlined, it's a red alert. Right click those for spelling suggestions.

Step 4
Include items in your article which may be able to be located online. If they are otherwise harder to find, all the better. Then optimize for that item in your keywords as well as within your article in as many places as possible while still providing quality content. This will attract better ads and encourage people to click on them. After all, if they want to follow your instructions, they will need that item(s), right?

Step 5
Don't just write it and forget it. Promote it! Everywhere.
